Maybelline Colour Tattoo Review

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Review

Maybelline Colour Tattoo ReviewMaybelline is a brand that is slowly winning over my heart; new formulations and long wearing products that deliver. Although we can’t say that for every one of their products, I can say such claims in respect to one of their newest products, the Colour Tattoo. I heard so much hype over these shadows over Youtube so while passing by the cosmetics at Walmart I couldn’t help but pick one up. I’ve written a Maybelline Colour Tattoo Review to let you know what I think of these creamy eye shadow pots. Enjoy!

Pigmentation, Finish & Blendability:

Upon swatch, these shadows are extremely pigmented! You can get a lot of colour from just dabbing your finger in the pot. Some of the shades are sparkly and some are matte; I picked up Tough as Taupe which is completely matte and quite lovely. Another stand-out to me was the gold shade which has a fair amount of sparkle in it, and it’s completely up to you whether or not you think the types of finishes will work for you. I personally have a certain affinity for sparkle… It’s really fun to let your inner girly girl run WILD AND FREE! :P But, for a more wearable shade, I decided to get the taupe. To be honest, it looks completely hideous when you swatch it on your hand, but when applied it on the lid it creates an effortless smoky look which I adore. As for blending capabilities, I have no trouble using this product alone and getting a nice blend-out, or pairing it up with shadows.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Review

Tough as Taupe

There is rarely an eye primer that works for me. I always get creasing, smudging, fading and I don’t understand, my skin is not oily! I had little expectations that the Colour Tattoo would be a sufficient primer, but it actually works better than any other product I’ve tried! Be it a Paint Pot, Primer Potion, high-end, low-end, anything! I wear this shadow with nothing underneath and it stays put, I’m really pleased. I love the packaging as well, it’s just like a MAC Paint Pot and who doesn’t love that cute little jar!? The cherry on top is the price, at about $7 CAN I am more than happy to spend my hard earned cash on this.

One little con – although it is the best primer I’ve ever used, I still experience a slight amount of creasing. Keep in mind, with any other primer I get A LOT of creasing, so I’m still very satisfied with the wear of this product. Overall I’m very impressed and delighted that Maybelline decided to create these beautiful shadows. Definitely check them out for yourself and thank you for checking out my Maybelline Colour Tattoo review! Take care!

MAC Fix + Review

MAC Fix + Review

MAC Fix + ReviewWe’ve all heard of Fix +, but what it is? First, let me tell you what it’s not. It’s 100% not a spray which will make your makeup last longer. A lot of people seem to think that, which is understandable considering that’s exactly what it looks like. But, for me, it’s something so much better…  I love this product, so I’ve decided to create a MAC Fix +, read more to find out why it’s so great.

What it Does:

MAC Fix + is a “skin refresher/finishing mist” which hydrates skin and makeup, creating a glowy finish. I love spritzing it over my makeup as a final step; it gives my skin such a healthy, dewy look which I’m in love with. If you feel the need to categorize this product, I consider it to be the equivalent to a setting powder, but instead of wanting a matte look, you’d need to want a glowy complexion. So, just as a oily skin type needs a setting powder as to not look extremely shiny, I believe a dry skin type needs a moisturizing spray as not to look cakey. As I discovered after using almost a whole bottle in two months, this spray keeps your makeup fluid throughout the day; it won’t be dry or cakey looking, just glowy and gorgeous!

What’s in it?

If you’re literally wondering what it is, MAC describes it as a mineral and vitamin infused water which calms your skin via green tea, chamomile and cucumber. It refreshes and calms the skin while smelling completely amazing! It’s infused with the scent of Sugi, which is a Japanese tree.

It’s a real pleasure to spritz this across the skin. I really wasn’t sure if this product would be a total gimmick or not, but now I’m a believer! I love the healthy look it gives my skin and I’ll definitely be repurchasing another bottle very soon. Thanks for checking out my MAC Fix + review! Leave a comment if you have any questions.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Review

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Review

Make Up For Ever Smoky LashMake Up For Ever is a brand I’m just starting to get into; at first glance I wasn’t too enthralled by the packaging and overall look of the brand, but the more I try, the more I like! I’ve heard such mixed reviews on their mascara, and honestly to me it didn’t look like anything special, but the name made me really want to try it. Here’s my Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash review, please enjoy!

Brush, Formula & Wear:

The brush on Smoky Lash is really unique when you give it a close look; it’s made of thick plastic bristles which are quite short. The formula looks quite dry and very black! I usually can’t stand dry formulas because they make my lashes feel itchy and flake all over my face. Smoky Lash stays exactly where I put it and although it isn’t waterproof, it doesn’t run on me at all. I have very watery eyes and I need something which doesn’t smudge if I tear up, I’ve been very satisfied which the way Smoky Lash wears throughout the day!

Volume, Length & Curl:

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash ReviewI’m happy to say that this mascara is amazing! It really does deliver a smoky look to the lashes while lifting, curling and providing clean volume. My lashes look very dark, which I love and it gives that “pretty” lash-look. By that I mean it’s kind of doll-ish, definitely attracting attention without being clumpy.

Although every lash is different and mascara is going to work differently for me than it will for you, I would suggest trying this one out. I’m impressed by the quality of this mascara; it doesn’t smudge, run and looks truly beautiful! Thanks for reading my Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash review, let me know if you have any questions.

Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Treatment Review

Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Treatment Review

Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Treatment ReviewIn previous months I completely resisted this brand, I stubbornly didn’t think it would work for me so I refused to try their products. After changing my mind and trying about five of their skincare items I can now honestly say I am completely blown away and converted to a Philosophy LOVER! One product specifically impressed me, my skin felt and looked so clean after its use. I’ve decided to do a Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Peel Review for you guys to share how amazing this product is.

How to Use:

This product comes in two parts, a scrub-type product and a gel. First you take about a teaspoon of the scrub (which smells lovely – like citrus) and rub it gently all over your dry skin for a minute. Next you take about a teaspoon of the gel and pat it over top the crystals (or scrub). You’ll feel a warmth from this and the applied product will foam up slightly. So you leave that on for three minutes, then rinse everything off and apply your moisturizer.

What it Does:

Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Treatment ReviewBasically it deeply exfoliates and removes dead skin cells to promote new cell growth and reveal healthier looking skin. My skin was dramatically cleaner looking and feeling after this quick treatment. I felt no irritation during the whole process, it actually smelt and felt nice. I looked in the mirror and my skin was glowing! Since then I’ve tried it on my boyfriend and sister, who were very impressed as well.

One Con:

One thing I noticed that I wasn’t happy about was that I had a dry patch on my chin after using this product. My skin is originally normal/dry, so I kind of expected that this would happen. I am still VERY happy with the results this product gives, and I’ve come to find that Philosophy really lives up to their promises.

I’d recommend this product to anyone who has clogged pores, dull skin or just loves experimenting with facial skin care. I think it is a very high quality product with great results. Thanks for reading my Philosophy Micro Exfoliating Peel Review! Take care.

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Review

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Review

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Powder ReviewThere is absolutely no doubt that Dior is a multi-talented company. They reign in couture, aid our skin with luxurious formulas and dazzle us with some of the most glamorous makeup products. If you haven’t experimented much with Dior makeup, maybe it’s time to try… If you read my last review you know how much I love Dior Extase mascara, it’s like nothing else! I can say the same thing about this next product, I’m doing a Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder review today, enjoy! (Crazy-long name for a product, eh?)

Texture & Finish:

This loose powder is very velvety to the touch, when you rub it between your fingers it feels incredibly soft. It translates to the skin in the exact same way; I apply this lovely product with a dense brush which gives me a light to medium coverage. The finish is beautiful! I’ve never used a powder that actually makes my skin look more hydrated! Even on days when my skin is especially dry, this powder will always improve the look of my skin. This is because it contains 20% active mineralized water, which gives the skin a healthy and hydrated glow.

Overall Look:

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Powder ReviewYou can use this powder by itself, with concealer or over a foundation and in any case, it provides a flawless, airbrushed look! It’s amazing! Keep in mind if your skin is acne prone or you usually require more coverage that will still apply when using this powder. It will only provide light-medium coverage but works beautifully over any foundation. Another thing – this is not a setting powder. It doesn’t absorb oil and won’t make you look mattified. It gives coverage and smoothes in a moisturizing way, your skin will look glowing.

As a dry-skinned individual who NEVER wears powder, I am so happy with this product! Its lightweight texture and flawless finish make me feel like my skin was airbrushed. Dior has done it again, this powder will always have a place in my makeup drawer… And in my heart! Haha. Thanks for reading my Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder review, hope you enjoyed!

YSL Touche Eclat Review. Not Impressed!

YSL Touche Eclat Review. Not Impressed!

No matter how hard I try to resist, YSL’s glamorous charm and elegance always draws me in. I try to stay away because I know the price is just as extravagant as the product itself, but  that golden packaging, detailed embossing, stunning colour selection, EVERYTHING is so irresistible. They’ve definitely created a huge following for their cosmetics, especially for the Touche Eclat (pronounced toosh ecla). I decided I must try it out myself, so here’s my YSL Touche Eclat Review.

What is it?

My first question about this product was “what is it!?” It is commonly confused for a concealer, when really it is a brightener. The difference – it’s not created for coverage, mainly to brighten areas on your face like a highlighter. And as for under-eyes, it is to apply on top of concealer to brighten further. If you are extremely lucky and don’t have dark circles, it’ll be enough on its own.

Coverage/Finish & Texture:

I have to stress, the coverage is VERY minimal and it is NOT a concealer. You can use it under the eyes, on cheek bones, around the nose and pretty much anywhere else to make your skin look more radiant. In saying that you’d think that it would have a more obvious glow, however, it doesn’t!   The finish looks natural (so not glowy, but not matte). Most brighteners have a luminosity which reflects light and I’ve always like those types. I am not crazy about the finish of this product; I find the look is so natural that you don’t even see much of a difference in brightness. In addition to that, the texture is drying! If I apply under my eyes they seem to look more tired, and anywhere else on my face looks dehydrated. I expect a fresh, dewy look from this product and I find it gives the exact opposite effect: dry and cakey.

Packaging and Cost:

When I first got this product I was wowed by the beautiful gold packaging, but as it’s become older it has gotten scratched leaving it looking dull and cheap. Aside from that I like the click-type brush applicator, it makes it easy to apply on the go or touch up. That would be a lot more useful if I liked the actual product inside… Just saying! After saying that, obviously I think the price of $50 is insane! I wouldn’t pay $5 for this, it’s just not great… or even good.

I am so disappointed by the Touche Eclat. I don’t understand the hype surrounding it at all. For a product to be so generic and expensive and do nothing is crazy! In any scenario, I would NOT recommend this product. Save your hard earned cash and buy something that will actually do you some good, and probably for a lot less than $50. Thanks so much for reading my YSL Touche Eclat Review, please let me know what you think!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser Review, 5/5

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser Review, 5/5

After a long love affair with MAC prolongwear concealer I finally decided to try something new. I wasn’t sure I wanted to switch away from MAC completely, but after getting half way into my second bottle I wasn’t feeling it as much as I had been in earlier months. There was a lot of buzz on Youtube about the Maybelline concealer and although I had my doubts I love this concealer! Here’s my in depth Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser review, enjoy!

Coverage & Texture:

One of my favourite things about this concealer is the texture; it’s light on your skin, but provides an extra source of moisture so your under-eyes never look dry. There is nothing I hate more than dry under-eyes; I’d rather wear no concealer! So recap, I’m very happy with the moisture this concealer provides. In terms of coverage it’s nothing heavy duty, but my concealer philosophy is less is more – I don’t think you need a thick paste under your eyes to look well-rested. It has medium coverage and a fabulous texture, in my eyes that is ideal!

Packaging, Longevity & Cost:

I thought I would hate the sponge-like fuzzy applicator intensely, but to my pleasant surprise I actually like it! It places your concealer and blends it nicely. Even so, I do find the packaging a little random, but I can’t say I have any problem with it! It’ll last flawlessly for about five or six hours, but after that a touch up wouldn’t hurt. I like the fact that reapplying doesn’t look cakey or dry.  The cost is the cherry on top, considering how happy I am with the product, it feels like a small price to pay.

I’ve never written-off drugstore concealers, I just got tired of the trial and error that goes into finding one that works for me. This lovely concealer won’t disappoint, the best feature is the incredible texture, but the coverage won’t let you down either. This is definitely a product I’d repurchase again and again! Thank you for reading my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser review, please let me know what you think.

Kat Von D Ludwig Eye Shadow Review. Comparable to MAC

Kat Von D Ludwig Eye Shadow Review. Comparable to MAC

“A Smokey eye adds an instant air of mystery” – Kat Von D

Oh how true – not to mention adds sex appeal, confidence and excitement when you achieve your perfect smoky eye. This product can definitely deliver that, so I’ve decided to write a Kat Von D Ludwig Eye Shadow Palette review. I was given this palette two Christmas’ ago and have been enjoying it ever since! I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite palette, however it has many benefits and is very useful.

Shades, Finish & Blendability:

The palette has eight neutral toned shadows, including two matte finishes and six with a considerable amount of shimmer. I really appreciate the matte brown and black which are VERY smooth and blendable, they add drama to any look and are nice as smoky liners. The other shades are quite pretty, I don’t think they are the most unique, but are definitely all wearable.  At first use, I didn’t think I would get much use out of the two green shadows. That actually has been true for the lighter green, but not for the darker khaki-green. I actually love that shade and is probably favourite of the shimmery selection. The two highlights are awesome! I get tons of use out of them in every look and I find that they are very complimentary to my skin. As for the two remaining shades – I’m less than excited about using them. Personally I find them to be very generic and unflattering for the most part. I can easily say that might be exclusive to me and my skin, but just throwing it out there!

Regardless of that, all of these shadows are very blendable and easy to use. There isn’t a lot of fall-out and they stay on very well with a primer. A sexy smoky eye is definitely achievable using this palette!

Packaging & Cost:

I LOVE the packaging; it’s great for travelling and on top of that looks sleek and professional. Another great thing about this palette (and any of Kat Von D’s) is the value! Each shadow is larger than one from MAC, and in total the palette costs $45. If you were to buy eight MAC shadows, it would add up to more than triple that price. The quality of her eye shadows are very comparable to MAC’s, I don’t think anyone would be able to tell the difference.

The Ludwig palette really is a good buy. You get many shades of great quality and pretty colours. Even if you aren’t crazy about every single shade, it’s still well worth it to purchase this palette. It has become my perfect travel accessory and great for creating many different looks on a day-to-day basis. Although the colours aren’t as original as others, I still believe it to be an exciting and useful palette. Thanks so much for reading my Kat Von D Ludwig Eye Shadow Palette Review, let me know what you think!

Dior Extase Mascara Review. Worth the $35!

Dior Extase Mascara Review. Worth the $35!

We all hear about Diorshow mascara and all its glory, but what about the other formulas? There’s the lesser –known Iconic, Blackout and Extase. I’ve yet to try Blackout, but I believe that these “other” formulas deserve A LOT more attention than they get! I would like to let you know about my favourite mascara; if you ask me, there’s nothing quite like it. I had to write a Dior Extase Mascara Review to give this mascara the noise it deserves!

Volume, Length & Curl:

Dior Extase Mascara ReviewThis mascara has perfect volume- thick at the base, with nice, clean tips. It gives a nice amount of length, but I wouldn’t say that’s it best feature. The volume and curl are definitely this mascara’s assets. It holds a curl ALL DAY even on the most stubborn lashes. Mine will usually fall half way through the day, but with Extase on, my curl will never fall flat.

Texture & Price:

You’ll have a firm feel on your lashes, and the mascara itself is on the wet side. Neither of these factors bother me at all, although I know some people prefer dry mascaras. The firm touch ensures that my curl is held all day, and that works out just fine for me. As for the price, I’m always a little sad to let go of $40 on a mascara, but it looks so good I just can’t resist!

I’ve never tried a mascara that I like better, I would re-buy it as long as I’m able. There’s no smell, no clumpiness and amazing volume and curl. Dior has blown my mind, after not loving Diorshow very much, my faith in Dior mascara is totally renewed. Thanks for reading my Dior Extase Mascara Review, i hope you try it for yourself, it’s amazing!
